Mother’s Day Musings

Happy Mother's Day!

It's Mother's Day! A wonderful day where moms get the rest they deserve, a clean house without having to lift a finger, delicious meals made for her and showered with gifts of appreciation for being the glue that holds it all together, right? RIGHT?

A girl can dream…

I know this day is wonderful for many and difficult for many, as well, for a myriad of reasons.

So, we won't dwell on it much here. I see you, moms. Thank you for all you do.

Creative Updates

If you are watching my socials, you have seen an update on a spider web blanket I am working on and, of course, new art designs! Yay for progress! Yay for creativity!

This past week was a doozy for me in the real working world and it left me tired and a bit burned out, to be honest. I don't feel I was able to put my all into my passions (this) because my energy was drained. But, it be like that sometimes… bills gotta be paid, baby.

The Big Project

I am also working on another HUGE project that is taking my time and attention. "Well, what is it?" Let me tell you. I'm painting my house! The outside. A totally new color. Yes, I'm doing it myself. No, the kids aren't helping because I'm a bit of a control freak. It's a big project and I'm awakening muscles that aren't used to being played with.

All that to say, I feel busy. I feel like I've bitten off more than I can chew. Do you ever do that to yourself?

I just want to curl up on my couch and draw for days. I'm being whiny, I know.

The house project isn't a forever thing. Overly busy weeks at work aren't the norm. It won't always be this way.

(Here’s a picture of the house color and trim color- work in progress!!- the gutters are now black as well and I have new fun solar lights next to the door. I’ll post pictures when it’s all complete.)

Gratitude Practice

Let's practice some gratitude, shall we?

I am grateful I have a house to paint. I am grateful for a beautiful home that shelters my children, pets and me.

I am grateful to have a wonderful job. I am grateful it provides the money to pay for the things I need and want.

Did you say it with me? Do you practice gratitude? It's a real game changer.

Recommendations

Ok, I'm done whining about my tired bones and wrap this up with some recommendations.

A fun thing to watch: Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls, 2023 Find it on Netflix!

A good podcast: A Paranormal Chicks Kerri and Donna are hilarious chicks from Mississippi who talk about true crime and paranormal happenings. They are sweet, wonderful, and so funny.

My current favorite song: Fly for Your Life by Gunship So damn good.

A good read: Insomnia by Stephen King One of my favorites!!!

Thanks for reading, friends! Can't wait to hear about how you practice gratitude, or don't- tell me that too. Let me know what your favorite designs from this week were and if you have any show recommendations for me!
